Born on April 4, 1999, in Rastatt, Germany, Hoffmann began his youth career at Rastatter JFV before joining the academy of Karlsruher SC. His talent and potential were quickly recognized, leading to his move to Bayern Munich’s youth setup in 2015. He progressed through the various youth levels at Bayern, showcasing his skills and solidifying his reputation as a promising young goalkeeper.
While at Bayern Munich, Hoffmann primarily featured for the club’s reserve team, Bayern Munich II, in the 3. Liga. He gained valuable experience playing regular first-team football in a competitive environment. During his time with Bayern Munich II, he demonstrated his shot-stopping abilities, command of his area, and distribution skills. He also got to train with the first team, learning from world-class goalkeepers like Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich.
Hoffmann’s potential led to opportunities with Bayern Munich’s first team. He was named as a substitute in several Bundesliga and Champions League matches, providing him with invaluable exposure to the highest level of professional football. Although he did not make a senior competitive appearance for Bayern Munich, being part of the squad allowed him to learn from experienced professionals and understand the demands of playing for a top European club.
Seeking regular playing time to further his development, Hoffmann embarked on loan spells. In 2021, he joined Sunderland, then playing in League One. He made a significant impact in his brief spell there, quickly establishing himself as the first-choice goalkeeper. His performances were highly praised, contributing to Sunderland’s promotion push, ultimately losing to Wycombe Wanderers in the Play-off Final. His time at Sunderland significantly boosted his confidence and demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure in a demanding league.
Following his time in England, Hoffmann returned to Germany and was loaned to Eintracht Braunschweig for the 2022-2023 season. He plays in the 2. Bundesliga, providing him with further opportunities to gain experience and develop his skills in a competitive domestic league. At Braunschweig, he is looking to cement his position as a reliable goalkeeper and further enhance his reputation within German football.
Hoffmann is known for his athleticism, reflexes, and command within his penalty area. He possesses good communication skills and is comfortable playing with the ball at his feet, a crucial attribute for modern goalkeepers. As he continues to develop and gain experience, he aims to establish himself as a top-level goalkeeper and compete for a starting role at a prominent club.
