The name “Hajduk Šibenik” evokes a complicated history in Croatian football. Unlike many clubs named ‘Hajduk’ which are linked to Hajduk Split (although loosely in some cases), the Hajduk Šibenik story is a far more recent and contentious one.

In a somewhat ironic twist, in 2016, NK Hajduk Šibenik rebranded back to HNK Šibenik. Despite the name change, the underlying issues of financial stability and consistent performance remained a challenge.
